Job Summary

 A Bookkeeper is responsible for utilizing his or her educational background as well as communication and organizational skills by assisting the managers and partners in providing accounting services. 

Bookkeeper Responsibilities (not an all-inclusive listing):

  • Prepare, examine or analyze accounting records, financial statements, or other financial reports to assess accuracy, completeness, and conformance to reporting and procedural standards

  • Establish tables of accounts and assign entries to proper accounts

  • Full cycle accounts receivable including collections and billing

  • Full cycle accounts payable

  • Prepare payroll, payroll taxes, sales tax and other compliance reports as required

  • Fixed Asset and capital expense tracking

  • Accounting concepts including journal entries

  • Bank and general ledger reconciliations

  • Expense reporting

  • Generate monthly financial statements and financial reports

  • Familiarity with e-filing tax returns

  • Develop, maintain, and analyze budgets, preparing periodic reports that compare budgeted costs to actual costs

  • Report to management regarding the finances of establishment

  • Monitor in-house and external deadlines to ensure compliance

  • Perform other duties as assigned by the firm’s partners or professional staff

 

Requirements:

  • Associates or Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Bookkeeping

  • Two (2) years’ experience bookkeeping

  • Experience in accrual accounting

  • Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment, as well as to accept direction on given assignments

  • Proficient use of technology including MS Excel and QuickBooks

  • Strong professional interpersonal and communication skills

  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills
